I enjoy the videos a lot. And what's impressing, besides his heavy machinery skills he is also very good at filming. Don't usually see good footage and angles but all his videos are great! Love hearing that excavator hydraulic do its job. Grew up hearing excavators a lot with my father operating them for a living. Now I wish I would have tried it out more when I had the chance.

Sweet gum trees have various medicinal uses. Their fruit is effective against rheumatic pain. The bark has astringent properties and addresses dysentery and diarrhea. Gum resin from the trees has anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties and has been used to treat bedsores, topical herpes and angina.

Some times its hard to get a decent perspective of how big of a job you are actually tackling. If you could get the drone out at the end of the project, a before and after aerial montage would be awesome!!! Love these vids!

Just curious, after you dig these ponds, how long do people have to wait to stock them with fish? May seem stupid but I genuinely was curious.

Looks like a great project for the next month or so. Looking forward to many videos on this project, as well as the before and after, which are always amazing to see. Like any construction project, it's going to get allot messier before it all comes together and looks beautiful. I hope the contract includes digging a pad and/or basement for the new house as well, and a driveway, that would make this a perfect project all around. Maybe end the project with you sitting on the 250 FISHING at the new pond, lol. I am curious what a project like this goes for? If it were my property, I would hope for 10K, BUT my gut tells me I probably wouldn't get out for anything less than 25K, LOL.

Just now watching this. Very nice pond, but obviously it needs a lot of work to get rid of the bushes and small trees. You said at around 15 minutes something about 54 inch bucket if I got it right. Is that the width of the bucket? If so it is quite huge. It is very difficult to see how large the bucket and thumb are because the wide angle camera. How much dirt you can get to that? I mean if you fill it to the max. Nice and sunny weather there also. The green fresh leaves also. We got rid of the last piles of snow last weekend. Perhaps the spring is finally coming here. 100 miles up north there’s still some left.

As you mentioned, scale with this machine is pretty much lost based on perspective, so i think it would bring it into context if sometime when you're doing large tree clearings like this that when you have a monster in the bucket, leave it at working distance and hop off the machine and stand out there for scale. Leave the camera where it is though.

Question. Do ponds that have no springs or creeks feeding it. But strictly rely on run off to fill it last? And how is the water quality and fish sustainability in your experience? And the area I’m thinking about is at the bottom of a mountain with about 30 acres of surface area feeding down into a draw

As high as lumber is getting lately I’d say those saw logs are like money in the bank. You should get a sawmill and hire a couple guys to run it. Diversify your operation. Make fence boards & such. Lowboy and trailer decking. Dump truck side boards. Pallet lumber. Just a thought.

I've mentioned this before, but I got a used Daewoo 220 lc3 to expand my pond from about 2.5 acres to around 10 acres and as deep as I can get it. Where I am in Michigan I don't need to worry about dams and overflow, it's all ground water. My problem will be trying to dig fast enough to avoid water rising too quick and making the edges of the dig slough off into the hole. Scary stuff. THAT makes me wish you were in Michigan digging instead of NC. I'd be happy using that time to farm instead, but I want a big pond. Almost time to start digging....but....I have to clear scrub trees first with the grapple. Some big trees too. More scary stuff.
